How to choose a robotic lawn mower
Start with the grass, not the block. Measure the area that actually needs mowing and compare it with the rated lawn area shown for each model. Ratings are manufacturer figures for good conditions. Husqvarna, for example, quotes a lower capacity for irregular lawns than for systematic, striped mowing, so leave some headroom for complex yards.
Wire-free or boundary wire? Boundary-wire mowers follow a cable laid around the lawn. Wire-free models create a virtual boundary using satellite RTK positioning, cameras (vision), LiDAR or a combination. Wire-free setups avoid burying cable but still need mapping, and satellite-based systems need a reasonable view of the sky.
Slopes are rated in percent, not degrees. A 100% slope is a 45° incline. Check each model's maximum slope against the steepest part of your lawn; all-wheel-drive and tracked models are built for steeper, rougher ground.

Robotic lawn mower questions
Choose a mower whose rated lawn area is comfortably above the area of grass you need mowed. Measure the lawn itself, not the whole block: buildings, driveways and garden beds don't count. If your lawn has several zones, narrow passages or lots of obstacles, allow extra capacity.
It depends on the navigation system. Mowers that rely on satellite RTK positioning need a reasonable view of the sky and can struggle under dense tree cover or close to tall buildings. Models that add vision or LiDAR navigation are designed to cope better in these areas. Check the manufacturer's site requirements for the exact model.
Manufacturer slope ratings across our range run from 20% up to 100% (45°) for tracked models. Slope is usually quoted in percent: 50% is about 27° and 100% is 45°. Some brands also quote a lower limit near the boundary edge, so check the full specification.
